It's time for another update..I have so appreciated each one of you that has jumped in with me on this journey. It has meant alot to me to have the support and encouragement. As most of you have seen from my announcement yesterday the Lord has changed my plans regarding weight loss for the next 9 months. :) I will now be on a weight gain program. Therefore I will not longer be able to do the weekly "Let's Get Healthy" updates. I do not want to leave ya'll high and dry though. Is there anyone that could take this over for me? If you do not blog, you could just have a weekly email loop going? I hope that the Lord blesses each one of you as you seek to loose weight and get healthy...all for His glory!

Let's Get Healthy- Week 4
I am away this week at our church's family conference so this is actually an automated post. But, how did you do this week? Are you staying motivated? Remember, it is baby steps. Our lifestyles and weight gain did not happen overnight, and neither will the changes. Keep up the good work!

Let's Get Healthy- Week 3
Ok, it's confession time. I did not do weight watchers much at all this week. This week was full of having company, celebrating two birthdays and having dessert nearly every night! But, the good news is I stayed the same in weight and did not gain. So I am going to try and get back on track. Next week starting Monday though, I will be at a family conference so my menu will be very different again. But, let's not lose our focus, even if we have sabbaticals and things that change our lifestyles. Having the mindset is half the battle! So, how have you all done? The comments section was awfully quiet this week. Where are you guys? Hello? Hello? :)

End of Week Two! Let's Get Healthy!

We have completed week two. How did it go for you? I had good days and bad days, but was
pleasantly surprised to see the scale dropping in spite of the rougher days. This morning on the scale it showed another 2 1/2 lb loss..only half a lb away from 5lbs in two weeks! I am excited!
I think my exercising is really helping that. I have been really enjoying those 2 big
miles that I do on DVD. I have been feeling good and energetic. So all in all, I am encouraged.
Keep up the good work. And if you had a difficult week, start fresh!
So, how many of you are hanging in there with me, we didn't hear from some of you last week. Let
me know how you are doing!

Week One- Let's Get Healthy

I have completed week one on Weight Watchers! I did fairly well. I am down 2 lbs. Sometimes I did better than others counting my points, but overall that went well. I even had a gooey fudge birthday cake! It's amazing how we can eat out of habit and consume those extra pounds. Analyzing everything that goes in the mouth is hard but worth the extra effort.
I exercised once at Curves and twice I did 2 big miles with Leslie Sansone. Has anyone ever done that? It is actually called Four Big Miles, but I do half. :) Let me tell you...it had me sweating from head to toe! I think I am going to Curves again this morning. My goal for Curves is Mon-Wed-Fri. But, that's not always easy. The DVD will be good in between with Leslie Sansone.
I am so excited several of you are joining me in this! The support helps so very much! I could not do it without! So how did your week go? Come on, I want to hear the good, the bad, and everything in between.

Let's Get Healthy!

How is it going ladies? I am going by fits and starts. It seems like it is going to take some time to get back into the swing of this. I do good tracking part of the day and then have something I don't know what the points would be, so I guess. Then yesterday I did great tracking and had extra points for icecream, but it didn't get measured and so maybe I went over? But that is where the bonus points in WW comes in. So overall I am already seeing changes on the scale.
I went over to Curves the other day. I had been putting off doing my measurements for awhile and was due to have it done anyways. I thought the first day of this would be a great time to have a baseline. The depressing thing was seeing my numbers from 2 years ago...um, we won't go there! Let's just say I have alot of work ahead of me!
Last night at the grocery store I was walking around with my points calculator trying to find the most "bang for my buck" and get the lowest points. Stefanie thought it was hilarious. I told her lots of people do this, and she just laughed and said, "How many people do you see doing this in the store right now?" Then it was really funny how excited I got when I found a snack bar for 1 point and started telling it "I love ya!" But, really I find it helpful to have snacks around for between meals that I know are lowcal. Baby carrots, Lowfat string cheese, grapes, the one point bars, etc. My favorite late night snack (not healthy mind you) is the 1 point WW fudge bars. And the Sara Lee 45 calorie bread is 2 slices for 1 point. Not all this is what I would call the most healthy, but I figure losing the weight IS healthy.
Tonight we are celebrating birthdays so we are having a Weight Watchers Warm Chocolate Pudding Cake. It is 165 calories (4 points) per serving. If any of you would like the recipe let me know.
Ladies, I was thinking, here we are trying to do this challenge. We are highly motivated and say "Let's do this!" But, ultimately we can only do this if the Lord blesses us. I am keenly aware of this right now because I am on meds that might make it extra hard for the weight to be shed. We need to pray for each other! That is what support is all about.
On a legistical side, I think I should try to just post one blog post a week (on Wed if I can) on Let's Get Healthy. BUT, what I would really like is to be back and forth with LOTS of comments through the week on that post. We can have tons of conversations through the comments section. I can be sharing alot more through the week that way. So comment, comment, comment. Make sure you check the box for you to get follow up comments through your email. And be checking back here often.
May the Lord bless our journey!

Let's Get Healthy- day one!

Welcome to day one of our Let's Get Healthy challenge!! I am so excited, so in the words of another "Let's do this!" I have been so encouraged that there are others that want to join me in this. It will make it so much more fun this way and I hope we can bless each other through this journey.
There are still a couple of you left to introduce yourself...and spread the word if anyone else wants to jump in. I will probably stick with a once a week post on Let's Get Healthy and then we can have conversation all through the week in the comments section. Just make sure you check back there often, or have the box clicked "Email me follow-up comments". I would love to hear recipes, tips and shortcuts that help you too!
So off to day one. I stepped on the scale and did not like what I saw. I need to use a few more pounds than I thought! But then, that is why we are doing this right? Anyways, I started a notepad page on my computer to track my weight and I also went over to Sparkpeople.com and logged it in. Has anyone else used that website. It has all sorts of helpful, free tools for weight loss.
A couple reminder tips:
- write down, write it down, write it down. Tracking is such a big key.
- if you are counting points...remember, you can have 10 baby carrots for free. So when you feel hungry, grab a carrot!
- think about how you want to divide your points (or calories). I like to have a beefy supper and a snack at night, so I save alot of points for the end of the day. But, others love a big breakfast and go light the rest of the day. It doesn't matter as long as you keep within your points. Now, there are health experts that say that you should not eat after a certain time at night. But, for now, my late night snack cravings win out. :)
So onward and upward...tell me your plan and how you are today! Let's roll! (did someone say gooey cinnamon roll? oh, I guess not!)

Weight Watchers change to Let's Get Healthy

I am getting excited to start my weight loss program. I have a few of you that would like to join me so it will be great fun to have the support and accountability. I have decided to change the title from Weight Watchers to "Let's get healthy!" because there may be others that want to join us that are using another methods for weight loss. Ok, so here are the details...
Wednesday will be our "weigh-in" day. We will get on our virtual scales ...uh, no, I mean our real scales and mark down our starting weight. You do NOT have to share this! But, each Wed I will post a blog with my progress or lack thereof on the weight loss, as well as my faithfulness or lack thereof of exercising that week. Each of you can click on the comment button and share your progress and thoughts as well. This also can be a way to share ideas, healthy recipes, and encouragement.
So to begin with each of you click the comment button and introduce yourself. Here is my intro: My name is Springmeadows Mama (my friends, family and fb friends know my real name) and I have 6 beautiful children who I homeschool out here in sunny SC. I have been married to the dearest man on the earth for 15 years. My weight loss plan is to use Weight Watchers and I also am doing Curves for exercise. I would love to lose 35 lbs. I am dependent on the Lord for the ability to do this!
Now on to your introductions in the comments section...
See you Wednesday with my first day!
