Pride and Prejudice

My dear husband and I have been on a "Pride and Prejudice" marathon. Neither one of us had read the book or seen either one of the movies. First, we rented from the library the newer, shorter version with Keira Knightley. We really enjoyed it. But, we heard that the longer one was even better, so a friend loaned us the five hour epic movie with Colin Firth. Yes, we agree the older, longer version is the better of the two. For some reason we now seem to discourse between us using the fine, stately, Old English style. If you were in our home last night, you would have heard quite a bit of giggling coming from our bedroom, as we each tried to outdo the other with our elegant language. I must say, my husband can outdo me any day. Even today our emails back and forth have been very funny. It shows me how much we have lost in our casual society.
Today I typed up a few analogies that I drew from the movie between Christ and His bride, the church. Here briefly are some of my thoughts...
Mr.Darcy went way below his rank and station, stooped to claim a bride of the lower class.
So Christ took upon Himself the form of a Servant and had His heart set on a bride not worthy.
Mr.Darcy redeemed the family back through a very great sum to win his bride. He paid a great sum to spare the family from shame, out of love for his bride. He even took care of the debts of one so very wretched.
So Christ is our Redeemer, when we were in the shameful state, out of love for His bride, He paid the ransom, fulfilling the debt for ones so unworthy.
Lady Catherine employed all her ability to object to the union, heaping condemnation and guilt on Lizzie that she was not worthy of the union.
So the devil heaps condemnation upon Christ's bride to make them feel unfit.
Mr.Darcy was misunderstood and he was despised by Lizzie at the first.
So Christ's visage was so marred. He was despised and rejected of men. Before He opens our eyes we do not see Him as lovely, indeed we despise Him.
Mr.Darcy appeared to despise Lizzie at first.
So our Lord says, "For a small moment have I forsaken thee, but with great mercies will I gather thee"
Mr. Darcy commented much upon Lizzie's eyes
So Christ says to His bride "thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes,"
Mr. Darcy's estate overwhelmed Elizabeth with it's grandeur.
So Christ goes to prepare a place for us. "In My Father's house are many mansions".
Of course, the analogy breaks down in the fact that our Lord Jesus is pure, sinless and perfect in holiness.
Thus, my analogy has concluded and without further ado, I bid you good evening.

Who follows this blog?

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today my hope is to go into the girls room and go through their clothes. I want to get at least some organization back before we need to start school. We have a good handle on what we are doing this year, except for a few things we need to "button down". I am excited and actually looking forward to beginning. Not sure yet when we will start this year.
I was blessed when a dear friend sent me flowers unexpectantly yesterday. What a surprise and huge blessing! It was such a lift to my day!
I also got my fiddle in the mail yesterday, so now I have the challenge of teaching myself how to begin to play. Where is my sister when I need her to at least give me some tips! (she played a bit as a girl, I can still remember the Suzuki twinkle twinkle!) I have a friend who has a video he is going to loan me. And I plan on utilizing Youtube.
I ran this morning to the dollar store and bought the children some fun, cheap toys to play with, so I am a hero this morning! :)
Last but not least, I would love to know how many people are actually following this blog. Would you do me a favor and leave me a brief comment? It would be so fun to find out who is reading this! :)

Monday Musings
Just a brief updating post...
I would like to introduce my new webmaster/designer....aka my sister! Thank you P for all the work you have been doing on this site. She has been having fun making my blog look prettier. I am thankful for her expertise. :)
It has been a very busy weekend. Our "Guns and Generals" night was a really fun night. Very profitable with rich fellowship and fun. Yours truly amazed everyone (including herself) with some sharp shooting. I hit the target a few times and even hit a bulls eye from 25 ft away! That was the Lord guiding the bullet, because I am not known for my shooting ability. :) The movie was over about 12:15, we did not get to bed till around 2am, but it was a blessed time.
Saturday evening was our communion preparatory service. The sermon was what I call one of our pastor's "gold sermons". The Lord was truly there in a marvelous way. I would highly recommend for anyone to listen to. It was on the text "The bruised reed He will not break and the smoking flax He will not quench". To listen go to sermonaudio.com type in Robert McCurley and click on the title "Gentle Savior".
Our communion was yesterday and that was such a blessing. In the evening we had a few people from church over. It was once again a beautiful time.
We are very tired today. Some of the children slept till almost 11! The week ahead? Well, tomorrow night S and I get to go over to our pastor's house for dinner. SM and JD are babysitting for us. We are so looking forward to it! Wed night we have prayer meeting, Friday I have some tests at the dr's office, and then Saturday is the girls Keeper's At Home meeting. This month it is swimming instruction and one of the girls has a bday, so it will continue beyond the meeting to be a pool party. The girls are excited!
Also tonight will be the beginning of several nights where S and I meet together after the children go to bed for schooling plans. We need to do the final wrapup of last years schooling (paperwork and records to be gathered, etc.) and planning for next year. It is coming up so fast now!
Yesterday's table talk at communion for us was so beautiful. Here is the quote...
For the LORD's portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.
He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. Deut. 32:9&10
This is such a comfort that the Lord's people are His portion and the apple of His eye. He delights over us and takes care of us in such a tender way.
Have a good week, everyone!
